With Replication Mode, data from LDAP is replicated into the Sitecore Security (or Extranet) database.  Replication can be scheduled or performed manually by an administrator. 

Use Replication Mode if:

• Single-Sign-On is not required.
• It is required to populate Sitecore security storage (either internal or external) with users/groups from Active Directory.
• It is required to create the same structure of accounts inside Sitecore as in Active Directory. It is also required to copy user attributes and apply Roles security from Active Directory.
• It is required to apply additional security settings to Users in Sitecore without changing settings in Active Directory.
• It is required to grant Users access to the Sitecore Client and Extranet from Active Directory.

Instructions specific to Replication Mode:

• DO NOT change the domain assembly in /web.config.
• NOTE: Replication mode allows only the Sitecore password.
